How to Dribble a Basketball?
Keys to Excellent Ball Handling
Learning how to dribble can be tricky.
With time, though, it can become second nature.
Dribbling is a skill where practice pays off.
Here are some things to think about when dribbling.
• Always keep your head up while dribbling.
• Try and stay low and keep a low center of gravity while dribbling.
• Try and protect the ball with your body. You can do this by shifting your body between the defender and the ball.
• Dribble with a purpose, not just for the sake of dribbling. Try and create space or find a good pass. Don't dribble unnecessarily.
• Constantly change your pace and body movements to fool the defender. Don't dribble at the same pace. A good defender will time your dribble and steal it.
• Try and use both your hands for dribbling. Improve the confidence and strength in your weaker hand.
• You must constantly strive to improve your basketball dribbling techniques and body mechanics.
• Always do HOMEWORK! After you come home from a training session or workout, practice what you just learned. Dribble faster, stronger, and with more confidence at home, so you can go back to practice and work on the level 2 skills.
