How to Pass
When learning how to pass, consider these fundamentals.
Direct passes are quicker and safer than bounce passes.
Never just pass to a player – pass to a specific target (where will the player be?).
Be quick when passing – you shouldn’t give the defender time to adjust or react.
Always take a step toward your teammate when passing – this will allow a more crisp and accurate pass.
Never wind up when passing the ball – this extra time allows defenders to time the pass and defend it.
Try to pass through or by the defender…a pass around or over will be intercepted or batted away.
Pass with timing in mind….your teammate wants to be led so forward momentum will not be stopped.
Always try to “fake a pass to make a pass”….telegraphing your passes will have you on the bench.
