How to Shoot a Basketball
A Shooting Technique That Creates Immediate Results
Become a Dangerous Shooter Now
"BEEF" is a technique used to help any basketball player polish their jump shot to perfection.
Its four points--Balance, Eyes, Elbow, and Follow Through.
I have watched this technique work, for thousands of shooter’s, in the camps I’ve attended last summer.
Balance
Shooter’s should spread your feet shoulder-width apart, squaring yourself directly towards the rim. Make sure your shoulders are also square to the rim.
Eyes
Focus your eyes directly at the front of the rim – pick the two rungs , on the net, closest to you. Don't pay attention to the flight of the ball, your hand release, etc.
Elbow
Shooter’s should bring their elbow to a 90 degree angle, allowing you to look at the back of your hand. Place your dominant hand on the center of the ball, splitting the air-valve with a
Shooter's Fork
while placing you non-dominant hand to the side for support. (Your non-dominant hand is only there to prevent the ball from moving left or right.)
Follow-Through
Shoot the ball by straightening your elbow and releasing the ball by flicking your wrist, which gives it a small amount of backspin. Hold the wrist up and straight forward until the ball reaches the rim. Make sure that your entire arm is held straight up after the ball has left your hand. Many shooters allow their hands to flick outward causing the ball to sail to the left or right.
